
The Arakan Army (AA) has officially announced that over 70 soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion 295, led by Lieutenant Colonel Pyae Phyo Aung, were killed and their weapons were seized during clashes in Ngape Township, Magway Region. The military council has intensified its offensive operations towards Nat Yay Kan Kone area in Magway Region. On September 4, a two-hour battle near Suntauk village in Ngape Township resulted in heavy casualties for the military forces, forcing them to retreat.
On September 7, Light Infantry Battalion 295 launched a second offensive as part of their military column, but they were again forced to retreat after facing strong resistance from the AA. During the eight-hour battle, the AA captured more than 60 military bodies along with numerous military equipment and weapons. AA forces continued to pursue the fleeing military troops. Later that evening, a third military column launched an offensive from the direction of Weiluwun monastery, resulting in a three-hour battle where approximately 10 soldiers were killed.
The AA has announced that new recruits who were forcibly conscripted under the military council’s mandatory service law can surrender to the AA at any time. Those who surrender will be well-treated and either returned to their families or allowed to serve with the AA forces if they choose to do so. Currently, battles continue as the military council has reinforced its troops and launched offensive operations in areas around Setsatyo village at the Ayeyarwady-Rakhine border, around Sinlamya village at the Bago-Rakhine border, and along the Yoma border areas.
