The National Unity Government’s (NUG) Defense Minister U Yee Mon has warned that Myanmar’s current situation is becoming intertwined with global geopolitics, with some self-interested foreign countries emerging to support the terrorist military council’s inhumane actions. He stated that as the entire Spring Revolution has demonstrated its sustainability through victories like the Battle of Inntaw, coordinated fighting alongside allies will lead to a strategic final victory that will benefit all ethnic peoples of Myanmar.
In the Battle of Inntaw in Sagaing Region, the captured military council’s 77th Division Commander Brigadier General Aung Thet Oo and other prisoners of war have officially acknowledged their regret for the military’s unlawful actions and promised to contribute whatever they can to the Spring Revolution, according to NUG Defense Minister U Yee Mon’s official statement. This has been recorded as a significant victory for revolutionary forces.
Meanwhile, terrorist military council leader Min Aung Hlaing, during his trip to Russia, announced a third unilateral ceasefire from May 6 to May 31 in an attempt to deceive the international community. However, reports from ethnic regions indicate that airstrikes continue to be conducted on a daily basis. These ceasefire announcements appear to be merely deceptive tactics aimed at the international community, while military operations causing civilian casualties continue to be carried out on the ground. The military council’s pattern of announcing ceasefires while continuing military operations demonstrates their lack of sincerity in pursuing genuine peace and their ongoing strategy of misleading international observers while maintaining aggressive actions against civilians.
