The Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) issued an important statement on April 13, marking their fourth anniversary of establishment. The statement includes warnings to the Chin people regarding the military council’s attempts to forcefully hold elections. The ICNCC emphasized that the military council’s planned election cannot be held in Chin State and strongly advised the Chin people not to participate in or support these elections in any way.
ICNCC, which works in close collaboration with the Chin Brotherhood (CB) on political and military matters, confirmed that the CB has successfully captured several towns from the military council, including Kyindwe, Matupi, Mindat, Kanpetlet, and Falam. The organization stated that they are close to achieving complete liberation of Chin State, with plans to continue military operations in the remaining territories under military council control. This progress marks a significant advancement in their struggle for freedom in the Chin region.
The organization is currently drafting the Chin Charter and plans to hold a convention soon to ratify it. ICNCC emphasized that the Chin people have historically lived together throughout history and are now united in fighting against their common enemy, the military council. They strongly urged armed groups within Chin State to avoid historical disputes and hate speech, particularly during this crucial time of resistance. The statement specifically called for any conflicts between revolutionary forces to be resolved through peaceful means, treating them as partner conflicts rather than adversarial ones.
ICNCC strongly condemned the military council’s desperate aerial attacks across the country as they face military defeats, resulting in the loss of innocent civilian lives and property. The organization has firmly committed to continuing their struggle for complete self-determination, protection of national interests, and the establishment of a federal democratic union. They emphasized their determination to proceed with remaining military operations to liberate territories still under military council control, working towards these goals with all available resources and determination.
