A representative from the Wetlet Informational Network confirmed that two houses were reduced to ashes in Indaung village after military vessels traveling along the Ayeyarwady River launched artillery attacks in Wetlet Township, Mandalay Region. On July 22, when a group of military vessels traveling from Mandalay reached near Sheinmagyi village in Wetlet Township, they fired heavy weapons and small arms, which hit Indaung village, resulting in two houses being burned down. However, no civilians were reported injured in the attack.
Currently, the military council’s vessel group has reached near Htonegyi village, while another group that departed from Mandalay on July 17 has reached near Tagaung town, reportedly firing heavy weapons and small arms indiscriminately. Local residents reported that the military forces, advancing with three vessels, have been continuously firing heavy weapons and small arms toward the north of Sheinmagyi village in Wetlet Township.
Meanwhile, in Karen State, the military council conducted an airstrike on Htee Thel Lay High School in Kawkareik Township, damaging school buildings, a sports hall, toilets, and small school shops, according to a statement released by the KNU Central. The airstrike, which occurred at 1:48 PM on July 13, also destroyed two residential houses near the school.
The terrorist military council regularly targets non-military civilian structures, including residential buildings, schools where children study, hospitals and clinics, monasteries, and churches, treating them as military targets. The Karen National Union (KNU) has called on the international community to take effective action against such acts of terrorism and provide emergency humanitarian assistance to affected civilians.
