
The military council forces suffered significant casualties when People’s Defense Forces (PDF) launched a mine attack against three military columns that entered Thantzinkon village in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region. According to a representative from Kyaukse Battalion 2 Division 5 TigerBrother Myittha PDF, the incident occurred on the morning of August 9 when the military council forces attempted to raid the village with three separate columns. The PDF forces had set up ambush positions along the roads within the village, resulting in successful mine attacks that caused heavy casualties among the military council troops.
During the engagement, more than 50 military council soldiers were reportedly killed, with many others wounded in the coordinated mine attacks. The military forces also burned down a temporary camp that had been used by approximately 30 PDF members. The PDF spokesperson confirmed that they had advance intelligence about the military council’s movements, which allowed them to prepare the ambush effectively. The military council forces entered the village from three different directions, but the PDF’s prepared positions enabled them to conduct successful mine attacks. The military council troops were seen evacuating their dead and wounded following the engagement.
