A significant attack was carried out on the military council’s Bogyoke Aung San Training School in Thandaunggyi, Karen State, resulting in numerous military casualties and extensive damage to the facility. The attack, which occurred at 10:43 AM on August 26, involved nine 107mm rockets, all of which successfully hit their intended targets within the training facility. The strike resulted in the immediate death of at least 20 military personnel and left more than 50 others injured. The attack also destroyed two artillery positions, while the impact and subsequent explosions caused significant damage to classrooms, teaching materials, and furniture within the facility.
The assault resulted in the destruction of the deputy school commander’s residence and two trainee dormitories by fire. The deputy commander suffered severe injuries, and three soldiers present in the residence were killed instantly. Additionally, three vehicles on the premises were damaged. The operation was carried out as a joint effort led by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM), in collaboration with the Mountain Knight Civilian Defense Forces, Anti-Coup People’s Liberation Force, and KNLA Brigade 2, Battalion 5.
The Bogyoke Aung San Combat Training School serves as a crucial facility for training military squad leaders, platoon commanders, and battalion commanders from across Myanmar. The attack was specifically timed to coincide with an ongoing training session that began on August 25, which was known to have more than 400 military council officers in attendance. The operation was described as a retaliatory strike against military officers who, under the military council’s authority, have been responsible for the persecution and killing of civilians. The attack also served as a warning to military council supporters that they could face similar attacks anywhere and at any time. This strategic strike demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in their campaign against the military council’s infrastructure and personnel.
