
A goldsmith owner, Daw Sandar Lin, who was kidnapped while heading to open her gold shop in Thaketa Township, Yangon Region, has been released but lost her valuables in the incident. The incident occurred on March 18 when four masked individuals in a white Alphard vehicle abducted the Rakhine businesswoman near her shop, Lin Let Shwe Sin Gold Shop, located at Market No. 1 in Thaketa Township. The kidnapping took place as she reached the entrance of Thupayar 22nd Street.
Daw Sandar Lin, originally from Sinbala village in Man Aung Township, Rakhine State, currently resides on Thupayar 22nd Street in Thaketa Township, Yangon, where she operates her gold business. During the kidnapping, she called for help from nearby witnesses, but the kidnappers threatened potential helpers, preventing anyone from intervening. It was also revealed that a white Alphard vehicle had been conducting surveillance on her daily movements for several days prior to the kidnapping.
On March 19, around noon, Daw Sandar Lin was released unharmed and returned safely, though the kidnappers retained possession of her gold and valuables. The police are currently investigating to apprehend the perpetrators, and further details will be examined when she visits the police station in the coming days. The exact value and inventory of the stolen items have not been disclosed by sources close to Daw Sandar Lin.
