In Phyapon Township, Ayeyarwady Region, the skeletal remains of 24-year-old Ma Phyu Phyu Shwe Sin, who had been missing for over two months, were discovered, and four suspects, including her cousin, have been arrested and are being investigated for the murder. Ma Phyu Phyu Shwe Sin disappeared after leaving Kyuntar village on a motorcycle on February 21, and her remains were found on April 29 in bushes along the Phyapon-Bogale road between Koetaywin village and Thakangyi village in Phyapon Township.
According to the investigation, the victim’s cousin, who was experiencing financial difficulties due to gambling and gaming addiction, lured his sister under the false pretense of introducing her to a girl. Later that night, in an area with little foot traffic, he and his accomplices murdered her and stole her belongings. Currently, four suspects – the cousin, two individuals from Kyuntar village, and one person from the Bogale area – have been detained and are under investigation.
The deceased, Ma Phyu Phyu Shwe Sin, had graduated from Maubin University in February 2025 before her death, and her remains were cremated on May 1. Her identity was confirmed through a gold bracelet found on her remains, which the perpetrators had failed to notice due to her long-sleeved shirt. Currently, the motorcycle and iPhone that disappeared with her have not been recovered, and the police investigation is ongoing.
