A military council airstrike targeting a clinic in Oak Seik village in eastern Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, has killed four civilians including a 12-year-old child, according to a representative from the People’s Revolutionary Front. The incident occurred on April 16th, during the Water Festival, when a fighter jet from the Tataoo Air Base conducted an attack using a 500-pound bomb at approximately 1:40 PM, specifically targeting the village clinic.
The bombing resulted in damage to two houses behind the clinic and left six civilians injured, with one in critical condition. Among the deceased was a 12-year-old boy, and members of the People’s Revolutionary Front are currently conducting rescue operations to assist the injured. The official confirmed that rescue teams are providing necessary aid to those affected by the attack.
Additionally, on the same day of the Water Festival, the military council has intensified its air operations across the country, including in Kawkareik Township in Karen State, and Ayartaw and Wetlet Townships in Sagaing Region. These ongoing attacks targeting civilian areas and crucial infrastructure such as health clinics continue to result in civilian casualties and deaths of innocent people. The military council’s targeting of civilian infrastructure and residential areas has led to continued loss of innocent lives and destruction of essential facilities serving the local population.
