On June 9th at 2:30 PM, an airstrike by the military forces killed four people, including a child, at a home-based school in Pan Hap village, located between Kyaikmaraw Township and Kawkareik Township in Mon State. The airstrike targeted a home-based school within the village without any ongoing conflict in the area.
The military forces dropped three bombs from aircraft, resulting in the deaths of one child, one man, and two women, while several others sustained injuries. Additionally, three houses were destroyed in the attack. The school was a community-initiated institution, and due to fear of airstrikes, teaching activities had been relocated from the original school building to a private residence when the attack occurred.
According to a local resident, while regular classes had been conducted at the school in previous days, concerns about potential airstrikes led to the relocation of classes to a private home. However, the military forces directly targeted the house where teaching was taking place. Local residents reported that this was a deliberate attack targeting innocent civilians and children who were merely pursuing their education. The incident demonstrates the military’s continued targeting of civilian infrastructure, including educational facilities, even when there is no military activity in the area.
