On September 9th, an aerial attack by the military forces in the eastern part of Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in the death of four civilians, including a child, and left 13 others injured, according to local sources. The attack was carried out around 6:30 PM using a Y-12 aircraft, systematically targeting six villages: Thitseit, Indaung, Yonpinkone, Minkone, Nabeipinlwe, and Taytha villages.
A representative from the Wetlet Informational Network reported that the military forces conducted the aerial bombardment despite there being no active fighting or military operations in the eastern part of Wetlet Township. The attack appeared to be deliberately targeted at these civilian areas. Among the injured, several sustained severe wounds, leading to concerns that the death toll could rise further. The systematic nature of the attacks, with the aircraft moving from one village to another, suggests a planned operation rather than a response to any immediate military threat.
As a result of the aerial attacks, thousands of residents from not only the six targeted villages but also from surrounding areas have been forced to flee to safer locations. According to local residents, these deliberate aerial attacks have severely disrupted daily civilian life, forcing people to live in constant fear and uncertainty. The displacement of these civilians has created a humanitarian situation where thousands are now seeking shelter in safer areas, away from their homes and livelihoods. The attack represents another instance of civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict, particularly affecting rural communities in the Sagaing Region.
