
The commander of the Yay Bilu Battalion has confirmed that the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Special Strategy 2 Revolutionary Joint Force has captured four military soldiers with full weapons and ammunition at Kyauk Me Mountain in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region. The capture occurred during a clash that took place on September 2, 2023.
According to the Yay Bilu Battalion Commander’s statement, the confrontation between the military forces and KNLA troops occurred in the Kyauk Me Mountain area, with no casualties reported on the KNLA side. The commander further stated that the four captured soldiers will continue to be detained as prisoners of war in accordance with international conventions regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.
This incident demonstrates the increasing military effectiveness of revolutionary forces within the Tanintharyi Region, showing the gradual liberation of territories from military control.
