
A spokesperson from the Thayarwaddy District PDF has confirmed that four military council soldiers were killed in a mine attack while conducting operations in the Bago Yoma region of Oaktwin Township, Bago Division. The incident occurred around 10:15 AM on April 2, 2024, when resistance forces ambushed a military vehicle carrying council troops who were attempting to conduct operations in the Bago Yoma area near Oaktwin Township. The attack was carried out by members of the Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802, Company 4 Underground Guerrilla Force-Oaktwin near Paungdaungsu village.
The attack targeted a vehicle carrying approximately twenty military council soldiers. When the mine exploded, causing chaos among the military troops, resistance forces launched a coordinated attack from two directions. The engagement resulted in four military council soldiers being killed instantly, while two others sustained severe injuries. The firefight lasted approximately 15 minutes, after which the remaining military council forces retreated to Infantry Battalion 6. The resistance forces successfully executed their ambush strategy, forcing the military council troops to abandon their planned operation in the area.
Officials from the Thayarwaddy District PDF have warned local residents that the military council forces may conduct further operations in the Bago Yoma region. They have strongly advised civilians to remain vigilant and completely avoid areas where military council forces are present. Furthermore, due to the possibility of continued clashes between resistance forces and military council troops, local residents have been urged to take extra precautions for their safety. The PDF has emphasized the importance of civilian safety and advised people to stay away from any military activities in the region, as further confrontations are expected in the coming days.
