A clash occurred between military council forces and revolutionary forces in Kainhtaukkan village, Chauk Township, Magway Region, resulting in the death of four military council soldiers, according to an official from the Athawaka Urban Guerrilla Force. The battle, which took place on June 15, also left 11 military council troops wounded while revolutionary forces were able to withdraw without casualties. Following the clash, military council forces brutally tortured and killed a young villager from Kainhtaukkan who had been forcibly taken as a guide. They also burned down civilian homes and destroyed a civilian vehicle in the area, according to local sources.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Magway District PDF Special Operations Force Battalion (1), Athawaka Urban Guerrilla Force, Magway Regional Force (1), Chauk Township PDF, and the Chauk Township Revolutionary Alliance. Kainhtaukkan village is an area frequently targeted by military council forces for operations, where they regularly commit acts of violence and looting against local civilians. Revolutionary forces have reported that the military council systematically engages in forced recruitment of civilians as guides, torture, killings, and the deliberate destruction of civilian property in the area. The military council’s forces continue to terrorize local populations through these tactics as part of their broader campaign of violence against civilians in the region.
