On July 22nd at around 3 PM, revolutionary forces conducted a close-range attack on the Yay Oo rice shop checkpoint in Monywa, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of four military council personnel including two officers, according to Gu Gu, the commander of Gue Gue PSF. During the attack, a military officer who was using a mobile phone, a police officer, and two soldiers who were collecting fees in front of the checkpoint were killed instantly by gunfire, while another soldier inside the checkpoint was severely wounded after being hit by a 79mm shell.
The operation was jointly carried out by local revolutionary forces including Gue Gue PSF, GUARDIAN FORCES, Monywa Township People’s Security Force District (4), Sagaing PDF Column (2), Democratic Guerrilla Force, and the 5/Fighter Group. Due to the presence of civilian vehicles during the attack, local residents have been warned to avoid unnecessary travel near the checkpoint, to drive their private vehicles with tinted windows, and to avoid going out at night in neighborhoods near the checkpoint.
The revolutionary forces have announced that they will continue their operations against military council troops, while urging civilians to follow security advisories to avoid casualties. These attacks are part of Myanmar’s Spring Revolution and ongoing efforts to end the military dictatorship. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to protecting civilian lives while conducting operations against military targets, demonstrating their strategic approach to the revolutionary movement.
