The YOMA AYA People’s Defense Force has confirmed that four soldiers from Defense Equipment Factory No. 16, based in Mahton village, Pantaung Township, Bago Region, have defected from the military council and joined the people’s side. The soldiers made contact with the YOMA AYA People’s Defense Force on July 7 and successfully defected. Among them, one soldier has already reached liberated territory after being escorted by family members.
The remaining three soldiers have announced their intention to join forces with the Yoma Ayeyar group to fight against the military council. The defectors stated that they will stand on the side of truth and have decided to oppose the military council’s unjust actions. They expressed their commitment to working alongside revolutionary forces to completely eliminate the military dictatorship system. The soldiers emphasized their dedication to fighting for justice and their determination to help dismantle the oppressive military regime that has been terrorizing civilians.
The YOMA AYA People’s Defense Force has issued a statement welcoming any other military council soldiers who wish to defect, assuring them that they will be received with full security measures in place. The announcement emphasized their commitment to protecting those who choose to leave the military council and join the people’s side in opposition to the military’s brutal actions. Reports indicate that morale within the military council’s forces continues to decline, with an increasing number of defections occurring regularly. The resistance forces have established proper channels and protocols to assist military personnel who wish to defect, ensuring their safety and integration into the revolutionary movement.
