
The military council’s air force conducted an airstrike on Sint Kaing North village in Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, killing four civilians including a 6-month-old infant, an 85-year-old grandmother, an 82-year-old grandfather, and a woman in her 30s, according to a representative from the Shwebo District Battalion 15 – Eagle Guerilla Force.
On March 16 at 10:30 PM, despite there being no active fighting in the area, a fighter jet from the Tatmadaw’s Tataoo Air Base conducted two bombing runs on Sint Kaing North village. The attack resulted in four civilian casualties and seven injuries. Sint Kaing village is geographically divided with its southern portion falling within Sagaing Township’s jurisdiction while its northern section lies within Wetlet Township’s boundaries.
Regarding the incident, the representative from Shwebo District Battalion 15 – Eagle Guerilla Force stated, ‘There was no fighting in the area. They deliberately targeted a civilian residential area. An 85-year-old grandmother, an 82-year-old grandfather, a woman in her 30s, and a 6-month-old infant were killed, while seven others were injured. Houses were also damaged, though the exact extent of destruction is yet to be determined.’ This incident demonstrates the ongoing pattern of attacks on civilian areas resulting in casualties among innocent civilians.
