It has been reported that emergency food supplies have been donated on behalf of donors by the Anya Pistine Lay Group to internally displaced people (IDPs) in Salingyi Township who have fled their homes due to military council offensives. Local residents have been forced to abandon their homes and flee to safety for an extended period due to the military council troops’ heavy artillery attacks and burning of properties. The Anya Pistine Lay Group has provided emergency assistance through donors’ goodwill as people sheltering in IDP camps face significant daily challenges regarding food and basic necessities.
Among those taking shelter in IDP camps are many elderly people, children, and women who urgently need food supplies, drinking water, and other basic necessities. Due to the military council troops’ offensives, local residents can no longer conduct their farming and livestock activities, leading to the suspension of their livelihoods. Therefore, ensuring adequate food supplies for displaced people has become an urgent issue that needs to be addressed.
The Anya Pistine Lay Group has been collecting donations from donors to provide emergency assistance to meet the needs of displaced people. However, they face numerous challenges in delivering aid due to the military council troops’ road blockades and checkpoints. International community cooperation is also needed to provide humanitarian assistance to internally displaced people.
