A military airstrike on Nga Tharaw village in the river island area of Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, has resulted in the death of five women and injuries to seven others, according to a representative from the Info Committee Yesagyo. The attack occurred on August 31 at approximately 1:27 PM when the military forces dropped a 250-pound bomb from an aircraft and followed up with attacks using point-50 weapons.
Among the deceased are Daw Mya Thin, age 65, who suffered fatal back injuries; Ma Yu Mon Cho, age 35, who sustained fatal head and facial injuries; Daw Khin Ma Myint, age 70, who died from forehead wounds and injuries to her right arm; Daw San Win, age 63, who suffered fatal injuries to both arms; and Daw Hla San, age 61, who died from injuries including a broken right leg. The victims were all civilians, and the attack occurred without any ongoing conflict in the area.
Additionally, seven people were wounded in the airstrike, including an 85-year-old elderly woman, four other women, and two men in their 60s. The casualties were all related to each other or were neighbors in the village. Local sources confirm that there was no military engagement in the area at the time of the bombing. Currently, the military continues to conduct ground operations in the Yesagyo Township area, forcing local residents to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere. The situation has created a growing humanitarian crisis as civilians continue to be displaced by ongoing military operations in the region.
