KACHIN STATE – It was reported that the fights had been ongoing after the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) had captured Bhamo airport and some military bases in Bhamo Township, and the junta army bombarded on Hpakant and Lai Sin areas with its military aircrafts, according to a KIA news source.
The KIA and the Revolutionary Forces were able to completely capture Bhamo airport and the whole airport area on the evening of January 26. They also completely captured junta’s Artillery Battalion – 366 and Armored Battalion – 7006 in Bhamo Township, on January 25, and seized nine armored tanks.
Therefore, the terrorist junta army bombarded the Battalion – 6 under Brigade – 9 of KIA in Hpakant Township, by using fighter jet, at 4:50 p.m., on January 27. It was also reported that the atrocious junta’s military aircrafts bombarded the Lai Sin area, near Laiza Town, on January 26.
“Currently, the junta army is continuing to carry out airstrikes in the Hpakant area because they defeated the battle in Bhamo. The main reason is that they are continuing to attack other Kachin areas because they have lost the battle in Bhamo. In addition, the junta army dropped bombs on Laiza Town with two Kamikaze drones, about three days ago. The main reason is that the fighting in Bhamo is intense, so they are bombing all over Kachin State,” the military source said.
On January 8, the terrorist army also bombed KIA’s Battalion -6 with its military aircrafts, killing a woman who was running a shop and injuring another.
The fighting to control Bhamo Town was fiercely ongoing, and the military junta was reportedly resisting with airstrikes to prevent the fall of 21st Military Operations Command (MOC-21).
