
Fighting continues to intensify in Demoso Township, Karenni State, according to revolutionary forces. Since August 4, the military council forces have been launching offensive operations using heavy weapons and drones to attack civilian residential areas, including villages and wards. The military council troops advanced with large ground forces and reached Demoso town on August 19.
In the current situation, military council forces control approximately 60 percent of Demoso Township, while revolutionary forces maintain control of the remaining 40 percent. Military council troops have reached the Demoso town junction and are reportedly preparing to advance towards Fruso. Intense battles continue within the town and surrounding areas, with both sides suffering casualties, according to confirmation from revolutionary forces.
Due to the military council’s offensive operations, thousands of local civilians have been forced to flee as internally displaced persons, and even IDP camps have been targeted by airstrikes, resulting in civilian casualties. Currently, the military council forces have imposed strict security measures in Demoso town and are making special efforts to maintain control. They have positioned troops inside damaged government buildings and are attempting to defend and maintain control of the township area, according to sources.
