
A tragic accident occurred in Ayeyarwady Region when a couple from Kyaiklat town, who worked as sales representatives for CPP Fertilizer Company, died after their vehicle plunged into a canal while traveling to Pathein. The incident took place around 5 PM on June 16, when U Zay Htut Win was driving his Toyota Hilux Vigo between Kan Kone and Kyaiklat along the Myaungmya road. The vehicle veered off the road and fell into a roadside canal while attempting to avoid an oncoming vehicle from the opposite direction.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by local residents, both passengers – U Zay Htut Win and his wife Ma San San Htay – drowned in the incident. According to a local resident who was present at the scene, neither victim showed any external injuries, and their deaths were caused by drowning. Although people in the vicinity launched rescue operations within 15 minutes of the accident, they were unable to save the couple. The depth of the canal posed significant challenges for the rescue efforts, as reported by witnesses. The authorities have already contacted the victims’ relatives through proper channels.
