The Sin Thay Weir in Pyinmana Township, Naypyidaw, has suffered significant damage due to an earthquake that occurred on March 28. The damage to the weir has raised concerns for residents living in low-lying areas along the Sin Thay Creek, who are now required to exercise extreme caution. The destruction of the weir has created widespread anxiety among local residents due to potential flooding risks in the surrounding areas.
The earthquake, which was centered near Sagaing city, has also caused severe damage to the road section near Sa Hmun Bridge along the Nyaung Toe Gyi-Myit Tha road in Mandalay Region’s Myit Tha Township. Local residents report that the road has been completely destroyed, resulting in a total disruption of transportation links in the area. The damage is so severe that even motorcycles cannot pass through the affected section, bringing all vehicle movement to a complete halt and causing significant mobility challenges for local residents.
While the earthquake has caused extensive damage to infrastructure in these areas, repair and reconstruction work has not yet commenced.
