
A shooting incident occurred between two intoxicated soldiers who were attempting to rape a woman in Wet Thaput village, Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in one death and the seizure of two weapons, according to an official from PHOENIX (SGG) Fire Bird (Sagaing). The incident took place on July 23 when two soldiers from Yonepinkan village, under the influence of alcohol, were attempting to assault a woman from Wet Thaput village.
The incident unfolded when the two intoxicated soldiers from Yonepinkan village arrived at Wet Thaput village and attempted to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl. During their attempted crime, the soldiers got into a dispute that escalated into a shootout between themselves. As a result of the shooting, one soldier was killed while the other managed to escape from the scene. The villages are located in close proximity to each other within Sagaing Township.
Following the incident, after receiving information from a local civilian, revolutionary forces conducted a clearance operation at the scene. During the operation, they recovered two firearms, one hand grenade, six ammunition magazines, and some military uniforms. This incident serves as an example of the lack of discipline among military council troops and their attempts to commit crimes against civilian populations. The case highlights the ongoing issues of violence and criminal behavior by military personnel in the region, particularly their threats against civilian safety and security.
