
Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), has announced that all ethnic leaders and revolutionary leaders have agreed to elevate the NUG to a transitional government status in 2025, advancing both politically and militarily. Following his permanent return to the country under the instruction of the interim president, he met with relevant ethnic leaders and discussed how the situation in 2025 differs significantly from 2021. He explained that the revolution now controls territories, possesses military forces and weapons, and enjoys widespread public political support.
During his meetings with revolutionary leaders, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe conducted in-depth discussions and had direct contact with resistance fighters and ground commanders. He observed that civilians, civil servants, healthcare workers, and revolutionary forces all remain committed to the revolution. He noted that ethnic leaders and revolutionary forces are united in their objectives and goals, expressing confidence in the revolution’s ultimate success. The minister emphasized that the NUG’s reform process includes engaging with ground forces, and they deemed it necessary to stand alongside the people and revolutionary forces who are suffering under the military regime’s brutal actions.
Dr. Zaw Wai Soe further explained that ethnic armed organizations, People’s Defense Forces, and all revolutionary groups continue their unified struggle against the military dictatorship. He indicated that efforts are underway to establish a more comprehensive transitional government by 2025. The minister’s return to the country represents part of the NUG’s reform process, demonstrating their commitment to working directly with those affected by the ongoing conflict. The discussions with various stakeholders have revealed a strong consensus among revolutionary forces and ethnic leaders regarding the next phase of the revolution, with all parties prepared to advance both militarily and politically in 2025.
