A senior official from the Thayarwaddy District Battalion 3802 has confirmed that eight military council soldiers were killed during a clash in Letpadan Township, Bago Region. The battle occurred on April 11 in the afternoon when local People’s Defense Forces (PDF) launched an attack against a military column consisting of approximately 80 soldiers who were moving out from Thanbinchaungg village. The confrontation took place near a bridge connecting Aungphosi and Yengan villages, where Battalion 3802 Division 2 joined forces with the Shwetanmyay People’s Defense Force to carry out the operation.
The battle lasted approximately one hour, with both sides engaging in heavy exchange of fire using both heavy and light weapons. During the confrontation, eight military council soldiers were killed, and at least four others sustained severe injuries. Due to these casualties, the military council troops hastily retreated toward Thanbinchaung area. Local resistance forces have warned civilians to avoid areas where military council troops are present, as there is potential for further clashes in the region. The military council’s forces have been known to frequently raid local villages, confiscating property and terrorizing residents, according to local sources.
Local People’s Defense Forces continue to closely monitor the movements of military council troops in their efforts to protect civilian populations. The Thayarwaddy District PDF has stated that they will continue their operations to maintain stability and security for the local population. The recent clash demonstrates the ongoing conflict between resistance forces and the military council in the region, with local defense forces working to prevent military council troops from establishing control over civilian areas. The PDF has emphasized the importance of civilian safety and has established communication networks to alert residents about potential military movements in the area.
