A deputy commander from the Naypyidaw People’s Defense Force (PDF) has been killed in intense fighting as the military continues its offensive operations in Moebye town, Pekon Township, Karenni State, according to a senior official from Naypyidaw PDF Battalion 805. On March 22, the military council launched a major offensive to regain control of the Moebye-Loikaw road, employing heavy artillery and air support. During the battle, Deputy Commander Nga Tay from Company 1 of the Thanaung Column, Battalion 805 Naypyidaw People’s Defense Force was killed, and four other resistance fighters were wounded.
An official from Naypyidaw PDF Battalion 805 explained that the military council forces were aggressively advancing and attacking, forcing their troops to stand their ground and defend their positions, which led to the deputy commander’s death. The fallen soldier, Comrade Nga Tay, was an exemplary fighter who had served for over two and a half years after completing the Battalion 805’s second basic military training course. Battalion 805 has announced their commitment to intensifying their efforts to bring down the military dictatorship system completely.
Since early 2025, the military council has been conducting offensive operations to regain control of the Moebye-Loikaw road, extensively using heavy weapons, drones, and air support. Fierce battles continue daily between the military council forces and the allied resistance groups. While the combined resistance forces currently maintain control of Moebye town, the military council continues to shell and conduct airstrikes on non-combat areas, resulting in civilian casualties. The military’s indiscriminate attacks on areas outside the combat zone have led to civilian deaths and injuries, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
