A military column that had been looting civilian property in Kyato village, Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, was ambushed by resistance forces, resulting in the death of at least 10 soldiers including a deputy column commander, according to Black Eagle PDF-Bagan representatives. On July 31, a military column with over 100 troops from Gang Ga village entered Kyato village, forcibly seized property from villagers’ homes, and set up a temporary base in the village.
When the military column departed from Kyato village on August 1, resistance fighters from Black Eagle PDF-Bagan launched a planned ambush attack. During the battle, although the military forces returned fire with both heavy and light weapons, the resistance fighters were able to withdraw safely without any casualties. After the clash, the military troops reportedly took shelter inside the Taung Zin police station. The battle details were confirmed by resistance sources who witnessed the military casualties firsthand.
Providing more details about the engagement, Black Eagle PDF-Bagan member Zithee explained that after spending one night in Gyokan village, the military column proceeded to enter Kan Gyi Kon and Chaung Shay villages to the east. During this movement, they arbitrarily arrested three civilians from Kan Gyi Kon village. The military’s operations have forced all local residents to flee their homes and become internally displaced. Currently, the Black Eagle PDF-Bagan forces are engaged in daily battles with the military and are in urgent need of weapons and ammunition supplies. The resistance group continues to monitor and respond to military movements in the area while facing significant challenges with limited resources.
