The Arakan Army (AA) has reported that the death toll from the military council’s airstrike on Daingyi Ward in Mrauk-U, Rakhine State, has risen to 14 civilians following the deaths of two more injured victims. The incident occurred on August 25 at 11:25 PM when military aircraft bombed the area, killing 12 people instantly, including five children, who were preparing for a donation ceremony. Twenty other civilians were also injured in the attack.
During medical treatment on August 26 at 4:30 PM, two more victims succumbed to their severe injuries: Daw Aye Sandar, aged 32, and Maung Aung Aung, aged 4. This brings the total confirmed deaths from the airstrike to 14, including both those who died immediately during the attack and those who passed away while receiving medical treatment.
On the same day, the military council also conducted airstrikes on civilian residential areas in Mrauk-U, Minbya, and Pauktaw townships. Additionally, military battalions based in Sittwe fired heavy artillery at residential areas in Punnakyun town. These deliberate attacks by the military council on civilian areas continue to result in casualties among innocent civilians, demonstrating an ongoing pattern of targeting non-military populations in the region.
