
The 5/Katha People’s Victory Flag Strike Group led a ceremony in Katha Township on June 19 to commemorate the 80th birthday of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. During the event, participants unanimously called for the immediate release of public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners. The ceremony was well-attended and featured various commemorative activities.
The event was organized with photographs of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, birthday cakes, and commemorative flags. Attendees offered prayers and well-wishes for democracy, human rights, and justice. The 5/Katha People’s Victory Flag Strike Group continues to conduct activities opposing the military dictatorship system and maintains strong support from local residents.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been detained since the military seized power on February 1, 2021, and remains in prison. The people of Myanmar continue to hold peaceful protests, strikes, and ceremonies demanding the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners, as well as the restoration of democracy. The commemoration ceremony in Katha represents ongoing public resistance against military rule and demonstrates continued support for democratic leadership.
