A soldier from Infantry Battalion 598 was killed and another was wounded when People’s Defense Forces conducted a sniper attack near Nyaung Chaik Htauk village in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region. According to a responsible person from the Taung Nyo column, the attack took place on April 10th when joint forces from Taung Nyo column, Waw Township PDF, and Inn Ta Kaw PDF carried out the operation. All resistance fighters were able to safely withdraw after the successful operation without any casualties on their side.
Meanwhile, fighting also broke out in Salin Township, Magway Region, when military forces conducted operations in villages near Salin town. On April 10th at 7:30 AM, over 100 soldiers and police personnel from Salin Police Station advanced into villages surrounding Salin town. In response, the Salin Township People’s Defense Force engaged in defensive operations, leading to intense firefights between both sides. While there were reported casualties among military council forces, the exact numbers could not be immediately verified according to local sources.
Due to the intensity of the fighting, military council forces retreated toward the Salin-Sinphyukyun road in the afternoon. However, on April 11th, they launched new operations from Lin Zin camp targeting nearby villages. The situation has since stabilized with a pause in fighting, according to a spokesperson from the Salin Township PDF. The resistance forces continue to monitor the situation to ensure the security of local civilians. The ongoing conflict reflects the broader struggle between civilian defense forces and the military council across Myanmar, with local resistance groups working to protect their communities from military operations.
