A battle broke out between the military council forces stationed at Mutoo area, south of Shwebo city in Sagaing Region, and People’s Defense Forces. The clash occurred on June 6 when military council troops were conducting patrol operations along the Shwebo-Mandalay highway heading southward. The Fight For Freedom group and their allies launched an ambush using remote-controlled mines, heavy weapons, and small arms from their hiding positions.
The battle lasted approximately 40 minutes, and while there were casualties on the military council’s side, the exact numbers could not be confirmed. Although the military council troops responded with heavy artillery fire, the revolutionary forces managed to withdraw successfully without any casualties. The operation was jointly carried out by multiple resistance groups including Battalion 15 Division 2 of Shwebo District, Fight For Freedom FFF PDF, Taukyarkan People’s Defense Force, Shwebo Township Area-5 PDF, Tagana Nagarmin People’s Defense Force, Zamani People’s Defense Force, Kyawtdaungrayza People’s Defense Force, and Daung Aunglan People’s Defense Force.
The ongoing conflicts in this region continue as the military council forces perpetrate violence and oppression against local civilians. The People’s Defense Forces maintain their resistance operations in response to the military council’s various forms of civilian exploitation, including forced monetary collections, property confiscation, and forced military service. The resistance forces remain committed to protecting civilians while engaging in these defensive operations against the military council’s oppressive actions in the region.
