Six civilians who fled from Oakkan Pyusawthi village in Myaing Township, Magway Region, have been successfully rescued by revolutionary forces. On August 4, resistance groups including the Daung Man group and TYK guerrilla forces collaborated to rescue U Win Sein, who is over 60 years old. Similarly, on July 26, five civilians including children were also rescued from the same village through a joint operation by TYK guerrilla forces and the Anyamyay Combined Forces.
Military council troops stationed in Pyusawthi village have been forcing villagers to search for food supplies through dangerous minefields due to their own shortage of provisions. Although the military council attempted to deliver supplies via Y-8 aircraft on July 30, the security and living conditions of villagers remain dire. Military council soldiers have been committing human rights violations against villagers, particularly against women in the community. Reports indicate various forms of abuse and exploitation of local residents, including forced labor and harassment of female villagers, even those who are married with husbands working elsewhere.
The rescue operations conducted by revolutionary forces have enabled villagers to escape to safer locations, and there are reportedly more residents seeking to leave the village. The recently rescued U Win Sein, who had suffered a leg injury, received medical treatment and was transported to a secure location according to resistance members. While the situation for local residents remains concerning, revolutionary forces continue to provide maximum assistance and rescue operations. The successful evacuation operations were led by the Daung Man group in cooperation with TYK guerrilla forces, demonstrating the ongoing efforts to protect civilians from the military council’s oppression.
