A representative from the Anyarmai Civil Society Organization-Myaing has confirmed that civilians were killed and injured when the military council conducted aerial bombardment using Y-12 aircraft along the Kamma-Yaypar road section in Pakokku Township, Magway Region. The attacks began at 6:35 AM on July 4, 2023, and continued until 7:13 AM, during which the military forces systematically dropped more than 40 bombs from Y-12 aircraft.
The aerial attacks were reportedly conducted to clear the way for the military council’s advance guard and supply convoy operations. The supply convoy, which departed from Military Division 101 in Pakokku in late May, has only managed to reach the Kamma-Yaypar road section after more than a month of travel. Revolutionary forces have been continuously engaging and attacking the convoy along its route. Local sources indicate that resistance forces have been actively conducting operations to impede the military convoy’s progress throughout the area.
During their advance, the military council’s forces have committed numerous atrocities, including the arrest and execution of three innocent civilians and the forced detention of 15 others who are being used as human shields. Furthermore, the military council has conducted aerial bombardments targeting civilian residential areas, religious buildings, and internally displaced persons, resulting in the deaths of four additional civilians, according to confirmation from the Anyarmai Civil Society Organization. The ongoing attacks have forced local residents along the Kamma-Yaypar road section to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer locations, creating a humanitarian crisis in the region.
