Local residents have reported that two civilians were killed due to military airstrikes in Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State, in areas controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). On August 25 at approximately 11:10 AM, the military council conducted airstrikes targeting the Pinne Kon area of Kyaukme Township. Local residents reported the aerial attacks but the extent of damage from today’s bombing remains unclear.
Furthermore, on August 24 in the afternoon, the military council conducted an airstrike using 500-pound bombs on Lon Kyeim (Kyaung Kon) village in Kyaukme Township, resulting in the death of two civilians. Local residents confirmed that the attack deliberately targeted the civilian population within the village. These attacks are part of an ongoing military campaign in areas under TNLA control.
Notably, on August 20, a military airstrike on Pin Tee monastery in Pin Tee village, Kyaukme Township, resulted in the deaths of 10 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and left 12 others severely injured. The military council’s deliberate targeting of religious buildings and civilian shelters has increased fear among displaced populations who have already fled their homes due to the conflict. The pattern of attacks on civilian infrastructure and places of refuge has created heightened anxiety among local communities, who face increasing challenges in finding safe shelter from the ongoing military operations in the region.
