The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that two civilians were killed when the military council forces launched artillery attacks on villages in Moe Township, Bago Region. On September 4 at around 6:30 PM, soldiers from the military council’s Infantry Battalion 351 and Light Infantry Battalion 60 fired two 120mm artillery shells at Phoe Thaung Su village in Moe Township, resulting in the immediate deaths of 55-year-old Saw Shwe Lu and 50-year-old Saw Pway Pway. Additionally, 58-year-old Saw Khin Hla was injured by artillery shell fragments, and two cattle were also killed in the attack.
According to the KNU Central’s statement, the military council’s continuous artillery bombardment has caused extensive damage to civilian homes, forcing villagers to live in constant fear and anxiety. Similarly, in Mandalay Region, the military council conducted aerial attacks using powered paragliders on villages in the southwestern part of Myaing Township, as reported by local sources. On September 5 at approximately 11:20 PM, powered paragliders from the military council’s Meiktila Air Base conducted bombing raids on villages in southwestern Myaing Township. While no civilians were injured in these aerial attacks, local residents have been forced to flee to safer locations due to the military council’s daily air operations in the area.
Local sources report that in both Myaing and Thaung Tha townships, the military council conducts nightly aerial attacks, making it impossible for villagers to sleep safely in their homes. The situation has become so severe that civilians must constantly seek refuge in safer locations. Recent intelligence reports from Myaing Township indicate that the military council is preparing to launch new military operations, with Myaing town being designated as a primary operational base. The ongoing attacks and military buildup have created a climate of fear and instability in the region, with civilians bearing the brunt of the military council’s aggressive actions.
