Seven civilians were killed and four others were injured in an airstrike by the terrorist military council forces on Kyauktaw town in Rakhine State, according to local residents. The attack occurred around 2 PM on May 15, when the military council forces dropped 500-pound bombs near the Agricultural School in Ywarma Ward of Kyauktaw town. Among those injured, some are reported to be in critical condition requiring urgent medical attention.
According to a local resident, the targeted areas were civilian residential zones, with bombs striking near the western side of the town’s Golden Monastery, near the Agricultural Institute, and along the main road of the town’s oil shop district. The source confirmed that children were among the casualties, and most of the injured sustained severe wounds. The areas hit were exclusively civilian neighborhoods with no military targets in the vicinity.
This attack follows a previous airstrike by the terrorist military forces on Ywarma Ward in Kyauktaw town on the evening of May 14, which resulted in the death of two women and injuries to three others. Additionally, on the morning of May 13, the military forces conducted another airstrike on Htun Yaway village in Rathedaung township, dropping two 500-pound bombs that killed 12 civilians, including women and children. These consecutive attacks demonstrate an escalating pattern of violence against civilian populations in Rakhine State, with the military forces repeatedly targeting residential areas and causing significant civilian casualties.
