
According to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Committee, civilians were injured by artillery fire in Shwegyin Township, Bago Region, after the terrorist military council announced a ceasefire. On April 2nd in the evening, military council troops from Infantry Battalions 350 and 440 fired 81mm artillery shells into Nyaung Chaythauk village in Shwegyin Township. The shelling caused damage to homes in the village.
Furthermore, on April 3rd at 10:55 AM, Infantry Battalion 351 of the military council fired artillery into Nga Htwai Soke village in Mon Township. The attack injured 24-year-old Naw Khu Khu and caused extensive damage to houses in the village. On the evening of March 27th, Infantry Battalion 589 of the military council fired four 60mm artillery rounds from Don Sarit, which exploded near the road in Tae Gyi Kone village.
The attack injured 40-year-old U San Naing Win and damaged a monastery in the village. Although the terrorist military council announced a nationwide ceasefire from April 2nd to April 20th, in reality, they have continued to conduct offensive operations, aerial bombings, and artillery attacks throughout the country, as confirmed in statements by the National Unity Government (NUG) and revolutionary forces.
