The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that two civilians were injured and several homes were destroyed when the terrorist military council forces launched artillery attacks on villages in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. On March 17, the military council troops fired two 120mm artillery shells from Nathankin camp in Kyaukkyi Township, which landed and exploded in Pho Ta village and Chaung Wa village. The attacks injured 61-year-old Daw Hla Hla Htwe and 32-year-old Ma Soe Soe Ma, while also destroying four civilian homes.
Similarly, villages in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, came under attack from the terrorist military using heavy weapons and drones. On March 15 at approximately 10:45 AM, troops based at Battalion 122 launched a suicide drone attack from Kwali Reservoir Hill, which exploded between Myakaungyi village and Kadaingdut village in the Win Kalaw village tract area of Kyaukmaehaung, causing forest fires. Additionally, on March 16 at 1:07 PM, the terrorist military’s Artillery Battalion 310 fired an artillery shell at civilian workplaces near Sinwin village. The military council has been consistently using heavy weapons and aerial attacks against civilian areas, causing destruction of property and creating an atmosphere of fear among local residents.
In Sagaing Region’s Kalay Township, the terrorist military also conducted an aerial bombing attack on Sawbwar Yayshin village, according to local residents who reported to the Yangon Khit Thit Media. The attack occurred on March 20 around 11:30 PM when military council troops carried out an airstrike on the village. Authorities are still investigating the extent of civilian casualties and injuries from this attack. These ongoing military attacks using heavy artillery and airstrikes have resulted in significant loss of civilian lives and property, causing widespread fear and anxiety among local populations. The military council’s continued use of disproportionate force against civilian areas represents a serious escalation of violence against Myanmar’s civilian population.
