
Three civilians, including children, were injured when the military council conducted airstrikes near Hpruso town in Karenni State, according to local residents. The attack occurred around 10 AM on August 8th near Hpruso town and Khamapu village, despite there being no active fighting in the area. Local sources confirmed that the military deliberately targeted the area surrounding the villages without any military engagement.
Additionally, in Bago Region’s Kyaukkyi Township, the military council has conducted more than twenty drone attacks targeting civilians, according to a statement from the Karen National Union (KNU). In July, Infantry Battalion 264 fired 120mm artillery at Kyetgwin village and Lei Ain Su farmlands, destroying one house. Soldiers from Taw Wi village also attacked the western part of Kyun Kone village with 81mm artillery.
During the last week of July, soldiers from Pae Nwe Kone fired three 120mm artillery shells between Na Za Leh village and Zayat Khin village, while also attacking the area between Thae Phyu village and Thet village with kamikaze drones. They continued to shell the vicinity of Thae Phyu village and its surrounding farmlands with heavy artillery. In early August, soldiers from Infantry Battalion 60 fired artillery at Nyaung Tan village, damaging a monastery’s dharma hall.
On August 3rd, the military conducted multiple drone strikes on Yan Myo Aung bridge and surrounding areas. On August 4th, soldiers from Ba Bu Kone village launched continuous drone attacks on Kyetgwin village. These attacks resulted in damage to houses and motorcycles. On August 5th, soldiers from Thutekone Station attacked Nwa Yay Chaung village with drones, and a subsequent attack in the evening damaged a pagoda within the Ko Na Win temple compound.
