According to a representative from the Pauk Township Humanitarian Aid Organization, nearly 20,000 civilians from 25 villages have been forced to flee their homes due to military operations launched to deliver supplies to Defense Products Factory 24 and Pyu Saw Htee villages in Pauk Township, Magway Region. The military operation began on May 27 with an advance force of approximately 200 troops from the 101st Infantry Division, which later expanded to around 300 troops accompanied by a convoy of over 100 supply vehicles arriving on June 1. The forces have been conducting operations along the Pauk-Pakokku road, raiding villages in their path.
The displaced civilians have sought refuge in nearby forests and mountainous areas due to the military’s activities. While there are reports of some civilians being detained, these claims cannot be verified at present. The situation has created an urgent humanitarian crisis, with displaced people facing severe shortages of food and basic necessities. The extended period of displacement has significantly impacted their access to essential supplies and other basic needs.
The Pauk Township Humanitarian Aid Organization has issued an urgent appeal for public assistance to help the displaced civilians. As the displacement continues into its second week, the humanitarian situation has become increasingly critical, with immediate needs for food, shelter, and other basic necessities. The organization emphasizes that the prolonged displacement has depleted whatever resources the civilians managed to bring with them, making external support crucial for their survival.
