Local residents in Pauk Township, Magway Region, are being forced to flee their homes as the military conducts airstrikes in areas where a military supply convoy is operating. On August 6, between 10:37 AM and 11:47 AM, the military carried out airstrikes using Y-12 aircraft, dropping 36 bombs on routes in the eastern part of the township where the supply convoy is expected to pass through. Currently, the convoy has reached Auk Kyin village and Sinthe village in eastern Pauk Township, where they are reportedly raiding civilian homes.
The military supply convoy, which departed from Light Infantry Division 101 in Pakokku, consists of nearly 1,000 personnel and is being led by a deputy commander. Despite having air support from Y-12 aircraft, jet fighters, and paramotors providing daily coverage, the convoy has only managed to reach Pauk Township after two months of movement. The presence of this convoy has forced thousands of residents from 17 villages along the Pauk-Pakokku road to flee their homes, creating an urgent need for food supplies and basic necessities.
According to local sources, when the military convoy enters villages and sets up temporary bases, they typically engage in burning civilian homes, looting properties, and confiscating food supplies. This pattern of behavior has forced residents to abandon their homes and possessions to seek safety elsewhere. Currently, ongoing airstrikes by the military prevent residents from returning to their homes, leaving them to face significant challenges in meeting their basic needs for food and shelter. The situation has created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with displaced civilians urgently requiring food assistance while being unable to access their homes and livelihoods.
