
Residents from Kying Gyi village in Htone Bo Township, Bago Region, have reported that one civilian was arrested and killed by the military council forces, who are also conducting indiscriminate artillery strikes, forcing hundreds of civilians to flee to safety. The military council troops began their operations on the evening of June 9, establishing a base at the General Administration Office in Gyobingauk Township. They advanced along Gyi Su Road and reached Taw Chan village in eastern Gyobingauk, from where they have been launching daily artillery attacks.
Due to the military council’s artillery strikes, thousands of civilians from Kwei Chaung Gyi village, Kwin Gyi village, Kying Gyi village, Daung Gyi village, and Daung Lay village in eastern Htone Bo Township have been forced to evacuate to safer locations. The artillery attacks have resulted in severe injuries to a woman in her 60s from Kying Gyi village, who is currently receiving medical treatment. Additionally, the Kwin Gyi village school was hit by artillery fire and burned down, according to local residents.
The military council forces arrested two civilians from Kying Gyi village in Htone Bo Township, one of whom was subsequently killed. Currently, the military column remains stationed at the border between Gyobingauk and Htone Bo townships, spreading throughout the villages and arbitrarily looting civilian properties. Local residents continue to flee their homes in fear of the artillery attacks and threats from the military council forces, seeking refuge in safer areas as the situation remains volatile in the region.
