Local residents in Longlone Township, Tanintharyi Region, have been forced to flee their homes as the military council conducts airstrikes following an attack by revolutionary forces on the Lat Khat Taung Tower Hill military outpost. The conflict began on the morning of March 13 when resistance forces launched an offensive against the military outpost, prompting the military council to respond with aerial bombardments. Although the initial fighting has subsided, the military council continues to carry out airstrikes targeting areas around Lat Khat Taung, Sit Pyet village, and San Hlan village.
In addition to the airstrikes, military vessels positioned in the sea are conducting heavy artillery strikes against the area. The military council’s combined air and naval assault has forced local residents to evacuate to safer locations. Around 10 AM, military aircraft dropped approximately 30 bombs, while warships continued to fire heavy artillery, causing widespread panic among civilians. The extent of damage to villages and potential casualties remains unclear due to the ongoing military operations and the displacement of local residents.
According to local sources, the intensity of the military council’s artillery fire and airstrikes has made it impossible for villagers to remain in their homes, forcing them to seek refuge in nearby forests and safer areas. The continuous military attacks have prevented residents from returning to their homes, as they remain in temporary shelters, fearing for their safety. The situation remains volatile as the military council continues its offensive operations, leaving displaced civilians unable to assess the damage to their properties or return to their normal lives.
