
A local source reported that Ko Than Zaw Win, a 35-year-old resident with mental health conditions from Nga Hla Sam village in Minhla Township, Bago Region, was arrested, killed by the military forces, and his body was dumped in a bomb shelter. The military forces also continued burning houses in Kywe Ma Kaing village this morning. On June 23 around 3 PM, military forces entered Nga Hla Sam village, where they tied Ko Than Zaw Win’s hands behind his back, beat him to death, and disposed of his body in a bomb shelter. His body was discovered on June 25 when villagers secretly returned to the village and found it while searching after detecting a decomposing smell.
Furthermore, on June 26 at approximately 7:45 AM, military forces entered Kywe Ma Kaing village in Minhla Township and began burning residential houses. The military forces have also arbitrarily arrested and tortured civilians from various villages in the area, currently holding 14 people from Nga Hla Sam village, 11 from Nget Pyaw Tun village, 1 from Taung Paw Su village, 10 women from Kanyin Pin Sam village, and Ko Ye Maung and his sister from Ban Bwe Pin village as human shields.
Currently, thousands of residents from more than 40 villages in Minhla Township, including Kywe Ma Kaing, Hway Kun, San But, Kyun Kun, Salt Creek, Kwet Ma, Nga Hla Sam, Nga Moe Yeik, Za Yit Myaung, Shwe Pauk Pin, Taung Lein, Kan Thone Sint, Htauk Kyan, Thayo Kun, and Ban Bwe Pin, have been forced to flee to safety. The military’s brutal actions continue to result in the loss of lives, homes, and properties of local civilians throughout the region.
