The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that one civilian was injured and two houses along with a school were damaged due to airstrikes and artillery attacks by the military council in Shwegyin Township (Shwe Htee Township), Bago Region. On March 15 at 1:50 PM, military council aircraft from Naypyidaw launched an airstrike on Thettunkone village in Shwegyin Township, dropping two 300-pound bombs. The attack resulted in severe injuries to a 50-year-old male resident and caused significant damage to one house and the village school.
Additionally, on March 14 at 1:54 PM, the military council’s Infantry Battalion 264 fired three 120mm artillery shells into Kanyin Kyun village in Shwegyin Township, destroying one residential house. According to the KNU’s statement, the military council continues to target civilian populations with violent attacks, causing residents in the Klerwehtoo District to live in constant fear for their lives and struggle daily for survival under extremely challenging circumstances.
The military council’s ongoing airstrikes and artillery attacks have resulted in extensive destruction of civilian lives and properties, leading to an increasing number of internally displaced persons. Human rights organizations have reported that the military council is committing war crimes against innocent civilians and violating international humanitarian laws. Local residents have been forced to flee their homes and are facing significant challenges related to basic necessities, including food security and access to healthcare services. The situation continues to deteriorate as civilians in the affected areas struggle with displacement, economic hardship, and limited access to essential services while living under the constant threat of military attacks.
