A murder case in Myingakyaing village, Pathein Township, Ayeyarwady Region has caused fear and concern among local residents. On the evening of July 13, police officers from Myingakyaing Police Station arrested 36-year-old Ko Zaw Myoe, accusing him of involvement in cattle theft. After arriving at the police station, police officers, along with an ex-convict, subjected Ko Zaw Myoe to violent interrogation that resulted in his death.
According to local residents, the interrogation was conducted by police officers together with an ex-convict named Thar Thar from Sand Road Quarter in Myingakyaing village. Local sources reveal that this is the third such incident at Myingakyaing Police Station, with previous cases also involving deaths of civilians during interrogations of suspected individuals.
Local residents report that police officers under the military council continue to commit acts of violence against civilians without facing any consequences. The ongoing violence against civilians has created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety in the community. The family members of Ko Zaw Myoe, who died in this incident, are unable to seek justice and must silently bear their loss. This case highlights the pattern of unchecked police brutality and the lack of accountability under the current administration, with local residents noting that at least three similar fatal incidents have occurred at the same police station without any investigation or consequences for the perpetrators.
