According to local sources and the Kawlin Revolution group, military council forces conducted airstrikes on Kan Kone and Phale villages in Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in one civilian death and four injuries. On June 9 at 9:20 PM, despite there being no active fighting in the area, the military council launched an airstrike using a fighter jet from Tataoo on Kan Kone village, located on the border of Kawlin and Wuntho townships.
The aerial attack resulted in the death of a daughter and severe injuries to her father from the same family. Additionally, the military council forces conducted airstrikes on Phale village in eastern Kawlin Township, causing injuries to two women and one man, while destroying six civilian homes. According to confirmation from the Kawlin Township People’s Defense Force, a fighter jet flying along the river dropped three bombs on Phale village. The deliberate targeting of civilian villages without any ongoing conflict constitutes a war crime and violates international humanitarian law, according to local residents.
Currently, the injured are receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities, while family members of the deceased are experiencing severe trauma. Local residents report that these brutal attacks by military council forces continue to result in loss of civilian lives and property, creating an atmosphere of fear and anxiety in the community. The targeted airstrikes on civilian areas without military targets demonstrate the ongoing pattern of violence against civilians by the military council, causing significant humanitarian concerns and displacement in the region.
