The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office located along Aung Mingalar Don Road in Insein Township, Yangon Region, was attacked with a large remote-controlled mine on the evening of March 19. According to a spokesperson from the Rangoon Urban Column, several security personnel on guard duty were injured in the attack, with those severely wounded being transported to the hospital. The attack demonstrates the ongoing resistance against military council facilities in urban areas.
The explosion occurred around 8:00 PM, causing alarm among local residents in the surrounding area. Following the incident, military council forces conducted extensive vehicle checkpoints along Aung Mingalar Don Road. A local resident confirmed that the security checks were carried out from approximately 8:30 PM until 9:00 PM, during which military vehicles, police vehicles, and civilian vehicles including taxis were thoroughly searched. The heightened security measures reflect the military council’s response to the attack on one of their key facilities in the area.
The Rangoon Urban Column continues to conduct systematic attacks on strategic military council targets within the city, relying heavily on ground intelligence gathered through civilian cooperation. The resistance group has established communication channels through their Telegram account, encouraging Yangon residents to contribute information about military council activities and movements. This collaborative approach between civilian informants and resistance forces represents an integral part of the ongoing opposition to military rule, with the resistance group stating their commitment to continuing such coordinated actions against military council targets.
