The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office located along Aung Mingalar Don Road in Insein Township, Yangon Region, was attacked with a large remote-controlled mine on the evening of March 19. According to a spokesperson from the Rangoon Urban Column, several security personnel were injured in the attack, with those severely wounded being transported to the hospital. The attack occurred around 8:00 PM, targeting the No. 2 Criminal Investigation Department branch office.
Following the explosion, military council forces established strict checkpoints along Aung Mingalar Don Road, conducting thorough inspections of passing vehicles and civilians. A local resident confirmed that military trucks, police vehicles, and security forces were checking private cars and taxis from approximately 8:30 PM until 9:00 PM. The security measures were particularly intense in the areas surrounding the CID office and the nearby government buildings, with authorities conducting extensive searches of all vehicles and pedestrians passing through the area.
The Rangoon Urban Column has established a Telegram account for Yangon residents to report ground situations, encouraging people to share real-time information about military council troop movements, security checkpoints, and other relevant security-related information. This reporting system aims to help protect civilians from arbitrary arrests and potential harm by providing timely updates about military council activities in the area. The organization emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong information network to ensure the safety of local residents while monitoring the movements and activities of military council forces throughout the city.
